It doesn't seem like Hollywood likes to venture very far beyond their backyard when scouting locations. Among other things, the Griffith Observatory has been seen in MacGyver, Quantum Leap, 24, Terminator, The Rocketeer, Transformers and most notably in Rebel Without a Cause.

There is a bust of James Dean located outside the Griffith Park Observatory.
