On July 6, 1957, John Lennon and his band, the Quarrymen, were playing the annual garden party at this church. In between sets, John's friend, Ivan Vaughan, introduced him to a 15-year-old Paul McCartney. Paul was asked to join the band shortly after that.
Also notable about this church is that the churchyard at St. Peter's contains the grave of Eleanor Rigby, a possible source of the 1966 Beatles song.
John used to be in this congregation with his aunt and uncle, George Toogood Smith, who is also buried in the churchyard. John was in the youth group here and used to sing in the choir occasionally.

Tom Waits worked the graveyard shift here in the mid-sixties when he was fourteen. In the song "The Ghosts of Saturday Night (After Hours at Napoleone's Pizza House)" he sings "And the early dawn cracks out a carpet of diamond across a cash crop car lot filled with twilight Coupe Devilles," a reference to the Mile of Cars, the historic stretch of National City Boulevard currently home to twenty-one car franchises.

Both Phife and Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest grew up in St. Albans, Queens, New York near Linden Boulevard. Here they are performing on the rooftop of Nu-Clear Drive-In Cleaners in their video for Check the Rhime.

On July 4, 1976, the Ramones played a show at Camden's Roundhouse in London. The Ramones first album had become an underground hit in London, and the show was packed with an enthusiastic crowd.
In the film "End of the Century", Joe Strummer recalls how members of the Clash and the Sex Pistols were helped in through a window by Johnny Ramone. The show had a profound effect on the burgeoning UK punk scene.
arturo vega’s loft

This was the location of Arturo Vega's loft- the guy who designed pretty much all the art that had to do with the Ramones.
This loft is also where Dee Dee and Joey lived in the early days of the band. Vega's coffee table is where the Ramones signed their first record contract. Dee Dee wrote "Chinese Rocks" while living here and sleeping on a mattress on the floor.
There is a 1975 bootleg of the Ramones recorded at this loft.
